Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis, Dumont Recreation has been postponed; all non-essential public meetings have been postponed; Dumont Borough Hall and Police Station will have limited access to the public; the Dumont Dixon Library, DPW building, parks, and Senior Center are closed to the public. The Borough of Dumont has been informed that a member of our staff was exposed to an individual who tested presumptive positive for COVID-19. That employee is in voluntary self-quarantine and, to date, they are asymptomatic.

While we have been informed by various health authorities that the risk to the general employee population is extremely low based on what is described as a “tertiary exposure”, and based on the date of ‘exposure’ we will be closing down Borough Hall effective immediately, until Tuesday morning, March 24, 2020. During that time period, the building will be undergoing a deep cleaning.

To be clear, to our knowledge and at this time, the Borough does not have any employees that are presumptive positive for COVID19.  This is an extreme and precautionary measure because the well-being and health of our employees and residents are always a top priority.  We rather be proactive and reactive, especially during this public health crisis.

Stay calm, stay positive, be healthy and we will get through this together.
